Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Geoffrey Rush at the National Movie Awards in London

Oscar-winning film The King's Speech has been nominated in the best drama category, along with 127 Hours, Black Swan and The Social Network.

Take That opened the ceremony at the Wembley Arena, which is being hosted by Daybreak's Christine Bleakley.

The live broadcast of the ceremony began on ITV1 at 2000.

Nominations for the one to watch award:
The Social Network's Andrew Garfield and Jamie Campbell Bower, best known for Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Nominations in the best performance category:
British stars Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush will battle it out with a selection of US stars, including Jennifer Anniston and Natalie Portman.

Nominations for the best animation award:
Tangled, Megamind, Gnomeo & Juliet and Despicable Me.

Nominations for best fantasy:
Gulliver's Travels, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and TRON.
