Kate and William are man and wife (Royal wedding headlines)

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been pronounced man and wife at Westminster Abbey.

Miss Middleton is wearing an ivory and lace gown designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen.

Some 1,900 guests watched the couple exchange their vows, with many millions watching at home. The service is expected to finish at 1215 BST.

The service has run smoothly so far but there was a tiny moment of drama as the prince struggled to place the wedding ring on Miss Middleton's finger. Following a long tradition, it has been fashioned from Welsh gold given to Prince William by the Queen.

Prince William has been made Duke of Cambridge and his wife will be the Duchess of Cambridge after their wedding.

He will also take the titles Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus.

The prince was given the titles by the Queen to mark his marriage. Catherine will also become her royal highness.
